Obituary of Albert C. Bikowski
Albert C. Bikowski, age 89, of Rudolph passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Bethel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Arpin, WI.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial with military honors will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation for Albert from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Monday and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Albert was born January 26, 1928 in the Town of Carson, Portage County, WI to Jacob L. and Josephine M. (Przybylski) Bikowski. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952 and then in the Army Reserves from 1952-1956. He received the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star and the United Nations Service Medal.
Albert was united in marriage to Loretta D. Lang on April 7, 1956 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Rudolph. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage.
He was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. as a foreman in the wood room for many years and retired as a motor oiler. He retired from Consolidated after 43 years of dedicated service.
Albert cherished time with his family, especially at holidays. He enjoyed being a hobby farmer, owning and operating his own sawmill and cutting pulpwood in the winter. Albert was a skilled carpenter and built all his own buildings on his farm in Rudolph. He was a man of many talents and could fix anything. Albert loved his polka music and time out in the woods hunting deer.
Albert was a lifelong member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Stevens Point (Mill Creek) and a 60 year member of American Legion Post 6 in Stevens Point.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Loretta; children: Raymond (Jean) Bikowski, Joan Bikowski and Dale Bikowski, all of Wisconsin Rapids, Daniel Bikowski, Zurich, Switzerland, Julie Weigel, Stevens Point, Janet (Todd) Korslin, Rudolph, and Jean (Sean) Woods, Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren: Nathan Bikowski (Gail Robinson), Corinne Korslin, William Woods and Jordan Woods; great-grandchildren: Trevor, Kaydance and Jace; sister, Jeanette Olszewski, Menasha, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son William Bikowski, grandson Jason Bikowski, brothers: Felix “Phil” Bekowski, Henry Bikowski, and Leonard Bikowski, and sisters: Agnes Slowinski, Jean Dzialo, Dorothy Daczyk, Florence Kosloski, Bernadine Osesek, and Eleanore “Blondie” Stinski.
The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to the staffs at Waterford Assisted Living, Aspirus Riverview Hospital, especially Dr. Joe Garde, and Bethel Nursing and Rehabilitation for all the care given to Albert.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the South Wood County Emerging Pantry Shelf.
