Pearl J. Van Stedum, age 81, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Wednesday evening, August 23, 2017 at Strawberry Lane Medical Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at New Hope Community Church in Wisconsin Rapids.  Pastor Jeff Tyberg will officiate.  Burial will be at Christian Reformed Cemetery in Vesper.  Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Friday and from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church.

Pearl was born May 27, 1936 at the family farm in Vesper, Wisconsin to George and Elizabeth (Joling) Van Stedum.  She worked alongside her parents on the family farm for many years.  In later years, Pearl did seasonal work for Griffith State Nursery, Del Monte, Figis and other area businesses.  She also enjoyed doing volunteer bible assembly work for Bearing Precious Seeds in Oshkosh.

Pearl loved being the oldest daughter in a large family.  Although she never had children of her own, she absolutely loved kids, especially her nieces and nephews.  Pearl had a big heart and always remembered birthdays and anniversaries with a special card and a gift.  She had a great sense of humor and loved to tease.  Pearl was known to have a fondness of sweets and always had candy to share, even when she wasn’t supposed to.  Pearl enjoyed doing word search puzzles and being active member of New Hope Community Church.

Pearl is survived by eleven siblings: James (Eileen) Van Stedum, Bakersfield, CA, Gene (the late Jan) Van Stedum, Byron Center, MI, Carol (Robert) Persenaire, Wyoming, MI, Herman (Phyllis) Van Stedum, Souix Falls, SD, Sharon (Marvin) Van De Weert, Bloomfield, CO, Janice (Robert) Decker, Crown Point, IN, Ernest (Rosemary) Van Stedum, Vesper, WI, Robert (Katie) Van Stedum, Oregon, IL, Douglas (Marianne) Van Stedum, Durand, WI, Kenneth (Dorothy) Van Stedum, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Cynthia (Jerry) Pio, Grandville, MI; and umpteen nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister-in-law, Jan Van Stedum.
