Obituary of Dawn M. Henke

Dawn M. Henke, age 62, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at her residence. Services will be at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Deacon James Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services on Thursday at the church. Dawn was born in Wisconsin Rapids on December 21, 1951 to Richard and Florence (Getsinger) Smith. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. Dawn worked in accounting for Ore-Ida/McCain's until her retirement in 2002. She was loving and very giving with a quick wit and sense of humor and was always the life of the party. Dawn used her creative and artistic eye shopping for shoes, clothing, and decorating, especially for Halloween. She also loved her cats and going fishing. Survivors include her former spouse and still best friend Lee Henke of Wisconsin Rapids; two sisters: Donna Verjinsky of Wisconsin Rapids; Darlene (Allen) Erickson of Colorado; nieces and nephews: Daniel Verjinsky, Dana Verjinsky, Debra Jepson, Melissa Benson, Tyler Erickson, Carrie Lambert, Michael Henke and Kyle Henke; a special grandniece, Winter; and her extended family at Advantage Home Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ricky, and brother-in-law, Ronald "Butch" Verjinsky. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family.
