Obituary of Gary L. Goecks

Gary L. Goecks, age 66, passed away in Hudson, Florida of heart failure on Monday, August 18, 2014. Services will be at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Milt Van Natta will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Gary was born on February 22, 1948 in Monroe, WI to Walter Goecks and Mary Lu Meils. He married Sharon Whitehead and they had two children, Jeffrey and Christopher. He later married Donna Silvestris on February 7, 2004. Gary worked at the General Motors plant for 29 plus years before retiring. He was involved with the youth baseball program and with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts Troop 108 in Brodhead, WI, earning the Service to Youth Award from the Brodhead Jaycees in 1991 for the many years of service. He was an avid Badger football and Green Bay Packer fan. Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling and his Corvettes. Gary is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Jeffrey; grandchildren: Kierstin, Jordan, Sydney and Katie Goecks; siblings: Ben (Jackie) Meils, Barbara (Michael) Hittner, Diane (Larry) Anacker, George Goecks, and Janet Toth; stepsons: Joe and Tommy Silvestris; step-grandchildren: Alex, Brandon, Camden, Brittany, Ashley, Gina, Jessica, AJ, and Tom Jr.; five step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Carl Meils, son, Christopher Goecks, stepson, Anthony Silvestris, and brother, Richard Goecks.
