Obituary of Michael L. Walker

Michael L. Walker, age 58, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 20th at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church. Michael was born February 22, 1956 in Wisconsin Rapids to LaVern "Red" and Della (Fletcher) Walker. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids in 1974 and furthered his education studying electronics at Mid-State Technical College in Stevens Point. Michael married Jan Brock on April 29, 1978 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 36 years of marriage and a daughter, Renee. Michael worked for Consolidated Papers Inc. for several years and was a partner in the Chalet Restaurant in Wisconsin Rapids and R&R Lanes in Shawano. He was currently employed as an installer with Direct TV. Michael was a sports fanatic and an avid Packer, Brewers, Bucks, and Badger fan. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed bowling and golfing. Michael is survived by his wife, Jan; daughter, Renee (Neil) Peden and grandsons Bensen and Bergen of Wisconsin Rapids; mother, Della Walker of Wisconsin Rapids; sister, Gail (Steve) McIntyre of Wisconsin Rapids; three brothers: LaVern Jr. "Sonny" (Diane) Walker and Timothy (Pam) Walker, both of Wisconsin Rapids, Daniel (Joy) Walker and of Florida; special cousins: Sue (Chet) Cwicklo of Wisconsin Rapids and Larry, Steve and Mark Vanderhoef; father-in-law, Bud Brock of Wisconsin Rapids; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Giebel of Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by his father, LaVern "Red" Walker.
