Obituary of John R. Keehn
John R. Keehn, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday November 3, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be held Friday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Rev. Joyce Heintz will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids at a later date.
John was born June 22, 1930 in Brooklyn Township, Wisconsin to Clarence and Bernice (Brigham) Keehn.
On October 15, 1950 John married the love of his life Arlene Atkins in Sigel; they were blessed with 64 years of marriage.
John graduated from Brooklyn High School. He was a member of the United States Army. He served in Germany during the Korean War from 1950-1953. He was a member of the Army Security Agency 353 Com Recon.
John started working at Consoweld manufacturing plastics before he trained at MSTC to become a millwright. He transferred to Biron division of Consolidated Papers Inc. after Consoweld was sold, working there until he retired in 1992.
John enjoyed being a director of the Paper Cities Baseball Association, Twins class A baseball team. John was an active member in the VFW # 2534 and the American Legion post #9. John was a proud veteran and in October, 2014 he was able to participate in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight. He was an Elks Club member for many years.
He liked to collect Griswold cast iron. John liked polka music and limburger cheese.
John is survived by his wife Arlene; two daughters: Marilyn (Dan) Bailey of Nekoosa and Joyce Keehn of Wisconsin Rapids; granddaughter Melissa Bailey of Stevens Point.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Judith and brother Howard.
