Obituary of Alvin J. Tucker
Alvin J. Tucker, age 80, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at his residence.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Mary Lou Plummer will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, November 28, 2014 and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Alvin was born on December 30, 1933 to Clair and Doris (Fanning) Tucker in Sparta, Wisconsin. He married Garnet Griffin on May 15, 1953; they were blessed with 60 years of marriage. Garnet passed away January 18, 2013. Alvin joined the United States Navy in 1952 and was active until 1956, he was stationed in Hawaii and Nevada. He was employed at Consolidated Papers Inc. Biron Division from 1957 until his retirement in 1996; he worked there for 39 years.
Alvin was a life member of the NRA. Alvin was a true horseman that enjoyed working as a farrier since his youth. He liked to spend time riding and training horses and had a hobby farm with his wife and family for many years. Alvin was a hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors. He loved the simple things in life, and enjoyed spending time sitting on the patio with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and friend and will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Alvin is survived by his son Rodney (Sherry) Tucker and daughter Jeanne (Jeff) Eggebrecht; nine grandchildren: Amanda Tucker, Melissa (Tim) Fischer, Chad (Bre) Tucker, Dustin (Traci) Eggebrecht, Clayton ,Dylan, Garret Eggebrecht, Jason and Matthew Matuschka; five great grandchildren: Hailey Volkening, Adeline Fischer, Claira and Lyla Tucker, Emma Groshek; three step grandchildren: Tamara and Thomas Fischer, and Dylan Gustin; four sisters: Jane Nelsen, Marie Whitehead, Leone Harp and Doris Reinhart as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Garnet, daughter Vicki Matuschka; four brothers: Howard, Wendell, Robert and Wayne Tucker.
