Obituary of Carol Agnes Van Natta
Carol Agnes Van Natta, age 93, formerly of Vesper, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Arborwood Lodge in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Seneca Corners. Rev. Timothy Wenger will officiate. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church.
Carol was born May 9, 1921 in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to Rudolph and Louise (Grube) Anderson. After high school she received her degree from Central State Teachers College in Stevens Point, and taught in a small country school.
She married Bruce Van Natta on April 10, 1944, in Auburndale, Wisconsin. They were blessed with nearly 70 years of marriage and three children. Resourcefulness and versatility were Carol's credentials in a lifetime of working together with Bruce in their trucking business, Van Natta Trucking, Inc., and other ventures. She was a mail carrier, milk hauler, school bus driver, bookkeeper, telephone operator and dispatcher. In addition she honed a wide variety of talents: seamstress, tailor, ceramics, leather creations, upholstery, knitting, crocheting, gardening and fishing. She raised bees, pigs, calves, and reluctantly a couple of horses.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Seneca Corners, their Ladies Aide and the American Legion-Auxiliary Post in Arpin. She enjoyed traveling with Bruce, wintering in southern states and especially their annual Canadian fishing trips.
Carol is survived by her children: Penny Wormet, Friendship, Douglas (Sheila) Van Natta and Sarah (Brent) Ferguson, Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren: Amy (Dennis) Griese and Heath Follen of Friendship, Bruce (Lori) Van Natta, Josh Van Natta, Lucas (Carrie Eberhardt) Van Natta of Wisconsin Rapids, Ethan Ksionek of Green Bay and Dillon Ksionek of Marshfield; step grandchildren: Pela (David) Steiner, Tim (Linda) Wormet and Tadd (Kara) Wormet of Adams- Friendship and Stephanie Hause of Dallas, TX; many beloved great and great-great grandchildren who were close to her heart; brother Harold (Donna) Anderson, Wisconsin Rapids as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bruce, her brother Ralph (Margaret) Anderson and son-in-law Bud Wormet.
The family would like to thank the loving nurses and caregivers at Arborwood Lodge, Riverview Hospital and Ministry Hospice.
