Obituary of Ernest A. A. Kroll

Ernest August Adam Kroll, Age 88, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Friday January 16, 2015 at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. Memorial service will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Pastor Martin Baur will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in the spring with military rites. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Ernest was born September 2, 1926 in Wisconsin Rapids to Ernest H. and Amalia (Lipka) Kroll. Ernest and Vivian Kroening were united in marriage August 7, 1948 in Wisconsin Rapids. He served with the U.S. Navy and participated in the invasion of Okinawa. Ernest enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Cubs and John Wayne movies. Ernest was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Ernest is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vivian and children: Nan Durand of Brownwood, TX; Sally Hafermann; Ernest "Fritz" (Jeanna) Kroll; Peter Kroll all of Wisconsin Rapids; and Edward Kroll of Neenah, WI; grandchildren: Michael Durand; Jonathan Durand; Elizabeth French; Katharine Lewis; Kelly Hafermann; Jessica Krohn; Melanie Kroll; Connor and Emma Kroll; eight great grandchildren ; two sisters: Susan Scheiderer of Seattle, WA; and Barbara Brundidge of Nekoosa, WI; many nieces and nephews also survive. Ernest was preceded in death by a daughter Jan Kroll, six sisters: Marion Schroeder; Ruth Bathke; Cordula Joosten; Gretchen Smolarek; Alice Janz and Lois Staffon and brother: Jim Kroll.
