Obituary of LaVerne Wendall David
LaVerne "Chuck" Wendall David, age 82, of Ladysmith, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away at his residence, on Saturday, January 24, 2015.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor Doug Schalow will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services, on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Chuck was born August 16, 1932 in the Town of Wood to Anton and Muriel (Hartsough) David. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Trutt, on December 19, 1953 in Nekoosa. The couple was blessed with 61 years of marriage.
He was proud to be an American and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. Chuck enjoyed rifle deer hunting, muskie fishing, golfing, and most outdoor activities. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Chuck was a master electrician for 45 years. He was a member of the IBEW and Veteran's Memorial Association.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, David (Julie) David of Vesper, Charles (Tammy) David of Wisconsin Rapids, Portia David of Madison, and Toni Hayes of Portage; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Merlin (DeAnn) David of Nekoosa, and Anton David Jr., of Houston, TX; sisters, Betty (Melvin) Heintz of Marshfield, Dorothy (George) VanErt of Wisconsin Rapids, Nellie Roberts of Nekoosa, Karen (Jim) Cumberland of Nekoosa, and Bonnie Kopelke of Nekoosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Elaine David; sister, Elaine Douglas, and brother -in-laws, Walter Murray, Ed Douglas, Pat Kopelke, and Vern Roberts.
Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family.
