Lois was not only my mother in law she was my friend, she was a sweet and kind lady. Lois worked hard on the family dairy farm, she was up at 4:30 A.M. morning and night to help milk the cows. She spent many hours driving tractor, dragging the fields and that she told me she enjoyed. She did a lot of canning, vegetables and many different kinds of fruit, If it fit in the jar it landed on the shelf for her family to enjoy. For the past 18 years Lois endured the pain of rheumatoid arthritis. I have never seen such determination and will to continue to do the things that she enjoyed. It got to a point that her fingers and hands could not do even a small task of opening up a jar. I would stop by in the summer and there she would be at the kitchen table getting the seeds out of the cherries one at a time. Lois enjoyed simple things in life that brought her joy. Playing Dominoes was always fun for her, she was always looking for a willing participant because she knew she was going to win. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren at their own private campsite next to their pond on the farm. Most importantly Lois loved going to church at St. Luke's, and seeing all her special lady friends there. Christmastime was her favorite. The lights, the music and the smell of Christmas, was the season of peace and joy and that's how she lived her life. I witnessed Lois enduring the pain and struggles she went through with rheumatoid arthritis. It was a struggle on a daily basis for her just to get in and out of her chair and to even walk, yet she did not complain. What made her happiest was getting to see her children and grandchildren. She always listened, she always cared and she was always encouraging, that I will miss.
All the special memories, all the nice talks we had and the time I spent with her with Jeff and the kids, I will surely treasure because she was a treasure. One more thing, if you have someone special in your life take the time to stop by for a visit, because you never know when you're going to get another chance. We will all miss her. Tina Eastling, Jeff, Ethan, Willow, Isaac and Isaiah.
