Obituary of Llewellyn Quinnell
Llewellyn A. "Lew" Quinnell, age 85, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Friday March 20, 2015 at his residence.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Johnathan Jenks will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 23rd at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
Lew was born on July 13, 1929 in the Town of Sigel to Roy and Agnes (Haza) Quinnell. He proudly served his country in the United States Army; he was stationed in Fairbanks, AK and was a welder. Lew married Gloria Hallman on April 8, 1952 in Fairbanks, AK. Over the years Lew was a co-owner of The Five Q'S, Quinnell's Grandview Manor and Transit Service. He was employed by Consolidated Paper Inc. for 35 years until his retirement in 1990.
Lew was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for most of his life. He enjoyed listening to music especially gospel. Lew was a great singer, he and his brothers often sang as a quartet. Lew was a hardworking man who enjoyed building things and remodeling houses. He was a traveler and loved taking family vacations, going sightseeing and trips to Alaska. Lew enjoyed astronomy. Lew was a remarkable man who truly loved and was deeply devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.
Lew is survived by his wife Gloria, five children: Linda Peters of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, William (Tammi) Quinnell of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Betty (Dwight) Mann of Willow Springs, MO, Daniel Quinnell of Wisconsin Rapids and Jennifer (Dave) Newhouse of Menasha, WI; 11 grandsons, 6 granddaughters and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Vivian Quinnell and Ruth Quinnell. He is preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandchild and brothers: Royal, Robert and Virgil.
