Obituary of George Jacobsen
George "Jake" Arthur Jacobsen, age 85, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Our House in Wisconsin Rapids.
Jake was born on July 26, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI to George and Minerva (Lafler) Jacobsen. He grew up in Stevens Point, WI. He attended Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. He married Patricia L. Brostowitz on March 29, 1948. They were married for 55 years, until her death in 2003.
He was a projectionist at the local movie theater for a brief time. He worked for over 40 years as a truck driver for Nekoosa-Port Edwards Paper Co. He enjoyed duck and deer hunting, living in the country feeding the wildlife, bartering at flea markets, and planted many fruit trees. He had a passion for buying black glass and running around town talking to people.
Jake is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Paul) Raabe and Christine Vollert, both of Wisconsin Rapids; daughter-in-law, Carol Jacobsen of Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren: Brian (Dawn Emmerich) Jacobsen, Amy (Jim) Ferkey, Jared (Kari) Vollert, Jason (Michelle) Vollert, Melissa Raabe, Megan (Dan) Seiler, and Nicholas (Jessica) Raabe; Eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beverly Aughey of Biron.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; son, Gary; and sister, Vernell Boldt.
As per Jake's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
