Obituary of Claude Arnold Wolcott
Claude A. Wolcott, age 96, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Hilltop Alpine Terrace.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Paul Tonn will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday April 8, and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Claude Arnold Wolcott was born in Wisconsin Rapids on November 19, 1918 to Homer and Flora (Warren) Wolcott. He attended school in Wisconsin Rapids graduating from Lincoln High School in 1938. Claude married Mabel Mae Schanes on August 2, 1941; they were married for 61 years until her death in 2002. Together they raised their children. Claude served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. On his return from the war he worked for Dana Machine before beginning a business with his brother, Bear Frame and Alignment. After the shop closed he went to work for Nekoosa Corp. until his retirement. He worked at the Ridges Golf Course part-time repairing golf carts.
Claude enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling, hunting, and bowling. He especially liked building miniature engines in his basement machine shop. Claude was a charter member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed country music and dancing.
Claude is survived by his children: Nancy Deranick of McFarland, Claudette (Peter) Koch of Wisconsin Rapids, Timothy (Kathy) Wolcott of Hatboro, PA; grandchildren: Kurt Deranick, Scott Deranick, Vicki Magiera, Marcy Kemp, Colleen Erdmann, Steve Koch, Ryan Wolcott; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Morris Wolcott, sister, Adeline Peckham as well as many nieces and nephews, and close friends Gary(Judy) Brockman. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and granddaughter Stacy.
