Obituary of Russell Franklin Sommerfeldt
Russell Franklin Sommerfeldt, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at his residence in Wausau.
Russell was born in Marshfield on August 30, 1950 to Franklin and Eleanor (Braun) Sommerfeldt who at that time were living in Arpin; the family relocated to Wisconsin Rapids in 1954. Russell attended Children's Choice School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. Russell worked for Judge's Laundry and Riverview Hospital before moving to Wausau in 1990. Russell was a lover of country music; he enjoyed all country from the 1950's to today's country music. He was an avid Nascar and Dick Trickle fan and followed the Packers and Badgers.
Russell is survived by his mother Eleanor E. Sommerfeldt of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, his brothers: David Sommerfeldt of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, John (Jolein) Sommerfeldt of Amherst, WI, and William (Peggy) Sommerfeldt of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; nieces: Jennifer (Jody) Clements, Niki (Josh) Sanger, Jenna (Scott) Fowler, and nephew Skeets (Stacy) Sommerfeldt ; five great-nieces and one great-nephew as well as one aunt and many cousins.
Russell was preceded in death by his father Franklin R. Sommerfeldt, maternal grandparents Fred and Mabel Braun, paternal grandparents Esther and Frank Sommerfeldt and his great-nephew Jackson Sanger.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Deacon Jim Johnston will officiate.Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
