Obituary of William R. Clussman
William Ray Clussman, of Wisconsin Rapids, age 88, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at King Veterans Home in Waupaca.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Interment will be at Forest Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
William was born on January 25, 1927 to Walter and Maude (Miller) Clussman in Amherst, WI. William served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1947 during WWII. William married Shirley Elaine Dakins on August 4, 1951 in Wausau, WI; they were blessed with three daughters and 63 years of marriage. He graduated from University Wisconsin Madison Pharmacy School in 1955. William was the owner of Haney Drugs in Wisconsin Rapids from 1956 to 1973.
William truly loved and was deeply devoted to his family; he was always there when they needed him. He enjoyed traveling and taking his family on camping trips in their RV. He was a proud veteran and was a member of the American Legion. William was the past president and a longtime member of the Wisconsin Rapids Rotary club. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Badgers fan.
William is survived by his loving wife Shirley, three daughters: Cindy (Randy) Melville, Vicki Clussman and Lisa (Ray) Weisenbeck; 11 grandchildren: Frank (Amanda Weinkauf) Melville, Mike (Vanessa Chadwick) Melville, Kyle Melville, Megan Melville, Josh (Anica) Taggatz, Alicia (Dan) Wheeler, Zach Taggatz, Jessica Taggatz, Shane Weisenbeck , Rachel Weisenbeck and Cole Weisenbeck; two great-grandchildren:Bristol Melville and The're'se Taggatz , sister, Isla (Harry Russell) Hilgers, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ione Giese, brother LaVerne Clussman, brothers-in-law: Floyd Hilgers and Bud Giese and his sister-in-law Lorraine Clussman.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's research or the Veterans Honor Flight.
