Robert C Schenck passed away peacefully at age 88 on April 18, 2015 in Moreno Valley, CA. with his daughter Kathy by his side. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids Rev. Jonathan Jenks will officiate. Burial will be at Plainfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, May 1st at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and at 10:00 A.M. before the service at Calvary Baptist. Bob was born May 9, 1926 to Robert and Jennie (Dumbleton) Schenck in Pine Grove, WI. He was the youngest child of four. At the age of 19 Bob registered for the United States Army and was stationed in the Philippines during WWII. Bob was a member of the 127th Infantry, 32nd Red Arrow Division. While in the service Bob started correspondence with Ruth Plank by mail and by the time that he returned home from the service those letters had turned into love letters. Bob started attending Calvary Baptist Church and realized his need for the saving Grace of God. He accepted Christ as his personal savior in the spring of 1947 and with this new love for God his love for Ruth also increased. On November 15, 1947 he and Ruth were united in marriage. Bob and Ruth had a still born child, Lyle, early in their marriage. In 1953, Clint C Schenck was born and in 1956, Kathlyn Dee joined the family. Bob and Ruth thought that their family was complete. In the 1960's Bob and Ruth started providing foster care and in 1964, Ruby May was delivered to the Schenck residence as their foster baby. In April of 1966, Ruby's birth mom surrendered her rights and Bob and Ruth chose to adopt her and change her name to Kelly Kay Schenck. Bob worked hard to support and take care of his wife and children. For most of his adult life, Bob was employed at the Nekoosa/Port Edwards Paper mill. In addition to working full-time for the mill, Bob also did lawn care in the summer months and snow removal in the winter. Bob realized he truly enjoyed growing and caring for trees and plants. In the 70's he started landscaping with McKay Nursery. He received great pleasure, as did all of his family, at seeing the finished work of his growing creations around Wisconsin Rapids. Bob also loved woodworking. As he neared retirement from the mill, he filled his time in his workshop. He created lasting items for family and many friends. Bob enjoyed his family and taking trips with them. His most memorable vacation was on motorcycles with his daughter Kathy on a trip out west. Bob was thrilled at being a husband, dad, grandfather and then great-grandfather. Bob's wife Ruth Schenck passed away in 1993, and from 1995 until 2014 Bob was married to Nona Grey Schenck. Bob is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Son Clint (Terri) Schenck of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, with their 3 children Kristi (Jeff) Finger; Eric (Adrienne) Schenck with Ryker, Eli, and Sophia; and Jodi (Logan) Dean. Daughter Kathlyn (William) Goehring Jr of Moreno Valley, CA, with their son Joel (Christine) Goehring. Daughter Kelly (Joe) Meronk of Amherst, WI, with their 3 children Joshua (Chelsea) Panter Bassett and Michael and Iva; Caleb (Tanya) Panter and Keagan and Rory; and Kaylyn Panter. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son Lyle, wife Ruth, and brothers: Arthur and Lloyd and sister Ruth. Online condolences may be expressed at ww.taylorfuneralhome.net
