Obituary of William Shearier

William "Nig" M. Shearier, age 95, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Thursday May 21, 2015 at Harmony Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on May 27, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Timothy Ritter will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 26 and at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. William was born on July 21, 1919 in Wisconsin Rapids to Edward and Maude (Moore) Shearier. He was a Lincoln High School graduate. William served his country in United States Army during WWII in the European Theater. He fought in the Ardennes Offensive (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland Offensive, and the Central Europe Campaign. William married Mary Ann Ryan in 1941, the marriage ended in divorce in 1972. He married Pearl Sowazke on August 21, 1974 in Little Brown Church, Iowa; she passed away February 3, 2014. William was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. as a Rewinder Operator for 42 years , retiring in 1984. William was an avid baseball fan who loved to watch and participate in the game. He was in the American Legion baseball team as an umpire and a coach and umpired for the Wisconsin Rapids Twins. William enjoyed playing sling shot ball and played basketball with a men's league in the early 1960s. William is survived by his children: Jim (Mary Ann) Shearier and their children: Ann Marie Shearier, Christopher (Jessica) Shearier and their children: Scott, Anna and Elizabeth Shearier all of Indiana; Johnnylu (Robert) Skerven and their children: Jeri (Michael) Karbowski and their children: Jordan, Danielle and Brett Karbowski and John (Marion) Richard of Nekoosa, WI, and Blaine (Carey) Skerven and their children: Emily, Chelsea and Lindsea Skerven, and Gregory (Shannon) Skerven and their children: Erica (Nick) Komorowski, Faith, Michael and Maddeline Skerven all of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Jack (Sandra) Shearier of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and their children: Travis Shearier and his daughter Raianna of Lake Geneva, WI , and Traci (Mike) Wallen and their children: Chloe and Brody Wallen of Port Edwards, WI, John Kroll, Derek (Becky) Sunday and their child Jay Lee; Jeffery (Sandra) Shearier and their children: Joshua, April and Dillon Shearier; Joseph (Kay) Shearier and their children: Adam, Jessie and her daughter Madyson, and Ryan Shearier; Jared Shearier with his children: Jacob, Brittany, Courtney and Colton Shearier; step son James (Beth) Sowatzke and their children: Jess (Stephanie) Heltsley, Carrie Heltsley and her son Isaac, and Valarie Heltsley; nephews: Robert (Sharon) Roeder, Michael (Camille) Dusterdeck and niece Phyllis Roeder all of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
