Obituary of Janet Mary Nelson

Janet Mary Nelson, age 81, of Wisconsin Rapids, a beautiful person, joined God in Heaven when she passed away on Saturday morning, May 30, 2015 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards. Janet was born April 30, 1934 in Amsterdam, New York to Stanley and Henrietta (Pitera) Dado. She married Thomas E. Nelson on September 3, 1953. For 16 years Janet had one of the hardest jobs in the world; that of being the wife of a Marine. Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a heart of gold and a beautiful smile. Janet was a faithful member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. She was active with Bridge Club, Riverview Hospital Auxiliary, and the Wisconsin Rapids Garden Club. Janet is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Thomas E. Nelson; four sons: James (Sheila) Nelson, Terry (Ellie) Nelson, Randy Nelson and Tommy (Lori) Nelson; grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, Carly, Patrick, Kurt, Collin, Joe, Troy, Kelly, Connor and Mack; great-grandchildren: Ty, Gavyn, Finley, Toben, Stella, Sloane and Afton; and a niece, Sharon. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Millie Grayson and brother, Stanley Dado. Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, 2201 Chestnut Street, Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Sahayanathan Nathan will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorials may be designated to the South Wood County Humane Society. Janet's family would like to extend a special thank you to the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department Paramedics and the staffs of St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield and Edgewater Haven Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care.
