Obituary of Ralph Emmert Reed

Ralph Emmert Reed Sr., age 77, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Strawberry Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Paul Tonn will officiate. Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Central Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at King, WI. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 4 at the funeral home and on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Ralph was born on November 20, 1937 to Kenneth and Dorothy (Hahn) Reed in Rockford, IL. He married Marjorie Ann Steltenphol on June 9, 1956 in Rockford, IL; the couple was blessed with 58 years of marriage. Ralph served his country honorably in the United States Navy for 20 years before his retirement from service in 1974. Ralph was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He liked spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Ralph was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching: NASCAR, the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks and Cubs. Ralph was a country music fan and enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a current member of the VFW and the Fleet Reserve. Ralph is survived by his wife Marjorie, children: Cindy Hiler of Plover, WI, Timothy (Jona) Reed of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Ralph (Kelly) Reed of Stevens Point, WI; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, sister, Marlene Crozier of Rockford, IL as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Dorothy and his siblings: Mike Reed, Kenny Reed and Jean Houston.
