Obituary of Elizabeth Bowes

Elizabeth "Bette" K. Bowes, age 91, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away June 10, 2015 at Riverview Hospital. Bette was born on March 14, 1924 in Stevens Point to Charles and Dorothy (McDonald) Leyer. She married Clarence "Jib" Bowes on February 24, 1943; he passed away in June of 1973. Bette enjoyed her life to the fullest including shopping, reading, word search puzzles and best of all spending time with her family. Bette grew up in Stevens Point, then moved to Milwaukee where she worked as a telephone operator. She then married Clarence "Jib" and moved to Nekoosa where they raised their family. She also worked at Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company for 15 years. She is survived by two daughters: Jackie Miller, Port Edwards, and Nancy Scheunemann, Wisconsin Rapids; eight grandchildren: Rick (Lisa) Miller, Doug (Bridget) Miller, Barry Gamroth, Jenny Gamroth, Jerry (Lisa) Bowes, Jimmy Bowes, Gina Bowes, and Laura Scheunemann; four great grandchildren, Kali (Mike) Mayek, Ashley, Chase, and Kyla Miller; two great-great grandchildren: Gabrielle and Addisyn Mayek; brother, Dennis (Karen) Leyer and sister-in-law Ruth Bowes Bette was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Sharon Gamroth, son James Bowes, son-in-law Gene Miller; brothers: Robert, William, Harry, Jack and sister, Jean. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Port Edwards United Methodist Church. Rev. David Guse will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
