Obituary of Kevin James Neukirchen

Kevin James Neukirchen, age 53, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 peacefully at his residence. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 3, 2015 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Father William Menzel will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home on Thursday, July 2, 2015 and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday. Kevin was born on October 29, 1961 to Leonard and Kathleen"Kay" (Blaettler) Neukirchen in Marshfield, WI. He graduated from John Edwards High School in Port Edwards, WI. Kevin married Heather Brown on March 29, 1999 at the First Congregational Church in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Kevin was an employee at GH Miller for 17 years as a mechanic and at Phillip Services Corporation as a shop foreman and diesel mechanic for 13 years. Kevin was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer on January 9, 2015. Shortly after being diagnosed he began receiving chemotherapy treatments. Kevin is known by many as being a kind and giving man, always ready to help someone in need. He was a wonderful husband, father, son and friend who will be forever missed by everyone who knew him. Kevin was a very talented man who was always inventing and fixing things for his family. He loved to get his hands dirty working on anything mechanical especially Fords. He was an amazing wood worker; he enjoyed making bunkbeds and dressers with his father and all the furniture in his home. He loved hunting and going on fishing trips to Lake Namekagon. He was an avid NASCAR, Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan. Kevin is survived by his wife Heather and their many fur pets, his father Leonard (Elaine) Neukirchen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, his mother Kathleen "Kay" (Blaettler) Neukirchen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, son Matt Neukirchen (special friend Stephanie); one sister Amanda (Justin) Rogers of Wisconsin Rapids; six brothers: Kris Neukirchen of Wisconsin Rapids, Ken (Kelly Soppe) Neukirchen of Auburndale, WI, Jason (Vicki) Neukirchen of Green Bay, WI, David Neukirchen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Neal (Brittany) Neukirchen of New Berlin, WI, Jared Neukirchen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; three nephews: Alex, Dustin, Noah, cousin Cassie, his aunt Corrine Barker and his second dad Jim Ketelle.
