Obituary of Bertha Martina Timm
Bertha Martina Timm, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Strawberry Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Vance Elzinga will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Bert was born on March 20, 1931 to William and Martina (Scholten) Johnson in Chicago, IL. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School. Bert married Gordon Timm Sr. on July 14, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with 47 years of marriage before he passed away on December 13, 2003. Bert was employed at Wisconsin Rapids Savings and Loan (now Key Savings) and later at East Junior High School as a baker.
Bert was a wonderful wife, mother and friend who cherished spending time with her family. Bert loved traveling, camping in Door County with her family and trap shooting. She was an excellent cook who also enjoyed baking bread. She liked to spend time outside watching wildlife and gardening. Bert was a previous member of Faith Reformed Church where she was an active member of the choir for many years. She was very proud of her Holland heritage.
Bert is survived by her children: Barbara (Don) Zblewski of Rosholt, WI, Sandra Schanen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Gordon Timm Jr. of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Carla (Dan) Kniech of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; grandchildren: Amie (Jon) Braunstadter, Melanie (John) Allee, Mindy (Josh) Cole, Nicholas Schanen, Matthew Schanen, Katie Schanen, Mandy Timm, Christopher Kniech, Ashley (fiancée Brent Gies) Kniech; great-grandchildren: Macen, Kylie, Anya, Blake, Griffin and Ellie; special cousin Hazel Pagel ; as well as other relatives and friends who reside in Holland.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Martina Johnson, husband Gordon Sr.; brothers: DuWayne Johnson, Billy (Nancy) Johnson, niece Pam Johnson, and her special pets: Sparky and Tweety.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bertha's "angels" at Strawberry Lane for all the care and compassion that they showed during her stay.
