Obituary of Dan Duane Hendrickson
Dan D. Hendrickson, age 80, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Saturday August 29, 2015 at his home.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Chuck Tews will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. A Masonic Memorial Service will immediately follow the service on Wednesday at the church.
Dan was born on December 31, 1934 to George and G. Gladys (Amundsen) Hendrickson in Waupaca, WI. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a degree in Economics. While attending UW Madison he met his future wife Annette and was a member of the Alpha-Tau-Omega Fraternity. Dan married Annette Landsness on August 10, 1957 in Madison, WI. He was employed by Oscar Meyer for seven years as a Process Engineer in Madison before relocating to Wisconsin Rapids. Dan was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. as an Industrial Engineer for 30 years before his retirement.
Dan was quick to tell a joke or entertain you with a story. Dan was a true outdoorsman who loved all seasons; he enjoyed spending time at his cottage on the Wisconsin River and at his hunting land. Hunting, fishing, boating, ice fishing, and snowmobiling were among his favorite outdoor activities. Dan was an instructor for hunter and snowmobile safety as well as a member of the Kellner Knights Snowmobile Club. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packer and Badger fan.
Dan was very devoted to his family, community and country. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church for over 50 years and was past president of the church council. He was a member of the Wisconsin Rapids Masonic Lodge #128, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Eau Claire, and the Zor Shriners. He was also a member of and past Exalted Ruler of Wisconsin Rapids Elks Lodge #693. He and Annette enjoyed wintering in Florida for 11 years.
Dan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Annette; three sons: Kurt (Marcia) Hendrickson of Madison, WI, Eric (Jackie) Hendrickson of Waupaca, WI, and Dave (Daniel Sonnenfeld) Hendrickson of San Francisco, CA; six grandchildren: Tyler Hendrickson, Tim (Samantha) Wyngaard, Tom Wyngaard, Lisa (Brett) Jondle, Danny Hendrickson and Kristen Hendrickson; two great-grandchildren: Caleb and Brynn Jondle; and one brother, Richard (Rietta) Hendrickson of Oshkosh, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to First English Lutheran Church for youth programs or to the South Wood County Humane Society.
