Obituary of Mary K. Taschner

Mary K Taschner, age 79, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday evening, September 12, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with her daughters, Christina and Donnetta by her side. A private memorial for Mary will be held at a later date. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is assisting the family. I would like to let you know that our Mother's work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus and a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, playing cards and writing to her heart's content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. Her mission here has now been completed. Our mother was known for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. Her extensive vocabulary was more than highly proficient at knowing more curse words than most people learned in a lifetime. Everyone always knew where you stood with her. She liked you or she didn't, it was black or white. As her children we are still trying to figure out which one it was for us (we know she loved us). She was a master cook in the kitchen. She loved her religion and doing things with her friends including: CBs, camping, watching wrestling and TV. I love you, Mom. Donnetta and Tina. Mary was born August 20, 1936 in Glasco, Kansas to Lafe and Alice (Kendall) Garst. She was previously married to Donald Taschner while he was a member of the United States Air Force stationed in Kansas; they relocated to Wisconsin Rapids to raise their family. Mary is survived by her daughters: Christina (Christopher) Vause and Donnetta (Martin) Rendmeister both of Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren: Cary Vause, Amanda Vause, Rebecca Vause, Joseph Rendmeister (Tara Whitrock), Jeffrey Rendmeister, Jacob Rendmeister, Jason Rendmeister all of Wisconsin Rapids and Jeremy (Alisha) Rendmeister of Stevens Point, WI.; great-grandchildren: Landon, Gage, Natalie, Peyton, Parker, Annette and Jacob Jr. all of Wisconsin Rapids; brothers: Burton, Paul, Glen and Alvin all of Kansas; sisters: Anna Belle Schofield and Letha Mae Griffiths both of Kansas; her beloved friends: Ivy Levans, Sherry and Otto Frank all of Burlington, WI.; and her beloved dogs, Stubby and Penny. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Carmen Wells, parents, Lafe and Alice Garst Sr., sister, Maxine and her brothers: Donald, Lafe Jr., Fred, Lyle Dean and John.
