Obituary of Eugene Topping
Eugene Topping Sr. "Mona-Ja-Scubada they he ya" (lighting hitting the ground thunder) age 70, of Vesper passed away at his home on Saturday, September 26, 2015.
Services will be at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Dave Mickelson and Jamie Mallory will officiate. Burial with military rites will be at Dexterville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, September 27, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. A gathering will take place at Chakh-Hah-Chee Community Center in Nekoosa following the burial on Tuesday.
Eugene was born on February 22, 1945 in Dexter, WI to Archie and Dora (Mallory) Topping. He married Cheryl Steele on May 3, 1997 in Vesper.
He served his country in the United States Army from 1962-1964.
Eugene worked for Hillshire Farms for 15 years and was most recently employed by Ho-Chunk Gaming in Nekoosa for 19 years, retiring due to ill health.
He was a member of Victory Christian Outreach Center. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 442. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and taking his one and only camping trip to the Grand Canyon with his wife, Cheryl.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Cheryl; children: Eugene Topping Jr. of Wisconsin Rapids and Dodie Topping of Wisconsin Rapids; step-children: Darren (Maria) Brinegar, Cheryl Brinegar, Donald Keuffer III, Terri (Chance) Hoffman, Sarah (William) Firth, Sharon (Ron) Feit, Matthew (Nicki) Keuffer, Mark (Lauramae) Keuffer, Luke Keuffer, and John (Sara) Keuffer; sister, Bertha Gleason; brothers: Earl Topping Sr. and Dan (Norma) Topping Sr.; 23 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Sandy Salas and Allie Topping; many nieces and nephews; and his special constant companions, Moses and DJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Dora Topping; infant son; siblings: Silas Topping, Edward Topping Sr., Joseph Topping, Yvonne Nelson, Millie Smith, Betty Topping, and Myron Topping.
