Obituary of Chester F Turbin
Chester Ferdinand Turbin, age 95, of Wisconsin Rapids, entered into eternal life on September 30, 2015 at Harmony House Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Chester was born on December 9, 1919 in Wisconsin Rapids to John and Olga (Zich) Turbin. Chet served his country honorably in the United States Army in the 429th artillery from 1942 until 1946; he served in the Pacific Tour. He married Rosalie M. Russo on August 4, 1951 in Wisconsin Rapids; they were blessed with 64 years together. Chet was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. for 43 years before his retirement.
Chet was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers. In 2011, Chet was thrilled to be part of the Veteran's Honor Flight to Washington D.C which he enjoyed immensely.
Chet is survived by his loving wife Rosalie, children: Marlene (Kent) Turbin Weldon, Beverly (Jon) Maakestad and Kevin Turbin; grandchildren: Benjamin Maakestad and Maria Maakestad and great grandchild Lyla Rosalie Darna.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Helen, Evelyn, Charlotte, Beatrice, Lorraine and infant sister Gladys.
