Obituary of Adeline Koehler
Adeline "Addy" Koehler, age 93, of Wisconsin Rapids, entered into eternal life Wednesday morning, November 11, 2015 at Pine Ridge Assisted Living.
Addy was born on January 25, 1922 in the town of Rusk, WI to Martin and Caroline (Niemec) Vratanina. She married Ervin Koehler on August 10, 1940 in Chicago, IL. Their 53 years of marriage were blessed with twelve children. Their journey together brought them back to Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Tony and Cornell) and on to Gladstone, MI. After Erv's retirement they moved on to Tucson, AZ where he passed away in 1993. Addy remained in Tucson until 2002, when she returned to the midwest to live with her son Dennis in Wisconsin Rapids; she moved into an assisted living facility in 2006.
While living in Tucson, Addy was a member of the Desert Mermaids synchronized swimming team and was actively involved in playing bridge. Addy and Erv were charter members and very active square dance members of both the Delta Merry Mixers and Square Dance Campers in Escanaba, MI.
Addy is survived by two daughters: Dianne of Sherwood, WI and Kathy (Dennis) Becks of Green Bay, WI; six sons: Kirk (Barbara) of Hacienda Heights, CA, Kenneth (Lona) of Sussex, WI, Dennis "Buzz" of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, James (Audrey) of Champlin, MN, Richard (Cindy) of Zumbrota, MN, and Keith (Jackie) of Grand Rapids, MI; daughters-in-law: Mary (Snooky) of Green Bay, WI and Patricia of Grand Chute, WI; 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Lorraine Mansky of Ladysmith, WI, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin, her daughter Sheryl, sons: Douglas, Gordon and Rodney; grandsons: Christopher Koehler and Alex Koehler; daughter-in-law Mary Ann Koehler; her parents, Martin and Caroline Vratanina; siblings: Joseph Vratanina, Sophie Vratanina, Mary (Vratanina) Vobornick, Helen (Vratanina) Mraz, John Vratanina, Elsie (Vratanina) Figlic, Libby (Vratanina) Goddard, Charles Vratanina and Fred Vratanina.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover, WI. Burial will be at a later date in Weyerhaeuser, WI. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of mass at the church. A luncheon in the church hall will follow. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Special Olympics and Parkinsons Disease Research would be meaningful.
